Ideal Flow Network Calibration in Surabaya’s Central Business District

In planning a road as a transportation medium that can connect several places, requires
a method so that the planned road capacity is in accordance with the needs of the vehicle. However, if the design of the capacity of the road that is made is not in accordance with the needs, the effectiveness of the road will be reduced and cause problems on other roads in the road network. Accordingly, the researcher wants to find a solution to this problem by using a method called the ideal flow network. The concept of an ideal flow network is that the amount of current entering a node must be equal to the
current leaving the node. In this experiment, researchers take a study area and analyze the road network in a place. By using the concept ideal flow network, road network performance will be obtained including maximum congestion, flow size, speed, travel time, and average delay time. Furthermore, several scenarios are given on the road network so that it is more ideal and the road network performance will be re-analyzed. The result of this experiment is that the scenario of changing the direction of traffic flow to Jalan Genteng Besar – Yos Sudarso – Ketabang Kali can improve the performance of the research road network, in terms of the average speed increasing 3.5%, travel time decreasing 7.8%, and delaying time decreasing 4.5 %.
